I'm annoyingly proud to be from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Growing up in a single-mother household with a big family meant I didn't start dancing until I was 13 because we couldn't afford it. When my mom found Minnesota Dance Theater, I worked at the studio to cover the costs of intense ballet training.
At 16, I ventured to New York (alone) to study at the Ailey School, where I dedicated my pursuits to Modern Dance. There, I received the Oprah Winfrey Foundation and Toulmin scholarships. I went on to graduate from NYU TISCH with academic honors while studying Dance and Social and cultural analysis.
In my choreography, I love structured improvisation. I confidently utilize my hypermobile and long body to indulge in movement that isn't necessarily always viewed as "beautiful" but addresses the complexity of life.
Currently, I'm a company member of Stephen Petronio Company, a freelance model, and, most importantly, the director of Eryc Taylor Dance Outreach, where I serve communities with passion. When I'm not dancing 24/7, you'll find me devouring books or talking about the half marathon I just finished (again, annoyingly proud!).
